Climate
The Swiss city of Geneva enjoys a relatively high altitude, some 370 metres / 1,210 feet above sea level, and as such, the winter months are known to occasionally suffer strong northerly winds, known locally as the 'Bise' winds. January tends to feature the chilliest climate, although average daytime temperature rarely drop below 4°C / 39°F. Nighttimes are however a little colder with some frosty weather from time to time.
By the time March and April arrive, sunny weather is becoming more commonplace in Geneva and temperatures regularly top 13°C / 55°F. July and August are particularly hot and the evenings are especially pleasant, with many parties and outdoors celebrations being held. The hot climate can be humid and also a little changeable, although most weather is fairly predictable and extremes rare.
By the time that the end of September merges into the beginning of October, autumn in Geneva is well underway. Damp, morning due categorises this time of the year and the climate begins to feel noticeably colder in the mornings and the evenings, although daytime temperatures are typically anywhere between 16°C / 61°F to 18°C / 64°F.
