Five fellowships will be awarded to young researchers to cover their travel, tuition and course fees. These fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis, based on the abstract submitted by each participant and the nomination letter from their superior, advisor or lecturer.
Eligible participants must be younger than 40 years old and have been actively involved in mutation detection research or practice for at least one year from the date of application.
Therefore, we encourage participants to submit an abstract, to be included in the e-syllabus, describing their current work, aspiration as well as how this course will benefit them in their future work.
HUGO Young Fellowship Award is aiming at providing vital financial assistance to young scientists under the age of 40 to be able to attend the HUGO workshops, benefit from the scientific lectures and exchanges as well as interact and network with senior scientists and fellow researchers from all over the world. The award will cover transportation (APEX/Economy rate only) and full registration fee.

Applicants who do not meet these criteria will need particularly strong support demonstrated in their required supporting documents listed below. Please note that the programme is not intended for scientists holding senior positions: rather than applying for themselves, senior scientists should encourage their postdocs and junior fellows to apply.
Applications with all supporting documents must be submitted via email to HUGO MDTC 2008 Secretariat before 15 August 2008 and HUGO secretariat will inform individual recipient by 15 September 2008 via email. For all awardees, airfare & accommodation will be arranged by the HUGO MDTC 2008 Secretariat.
